The dormant volcano of Mount Vesuvius offers a picture-postcard backdrop. From the city, travel further afield to the archaeological site of Pompeii or take in Capri’s glamorous culture. Next Marvellous Messina, sitting pretty on Sicily’s Ionian Coast, is the ultimate Italian treat. It is noted for its natural beauty and historical sites, including cathedrals, monuments, and museums. Travel south to see stunning sea towns and villages, such as Taormina or visit the famed Mount Etna, an active volcano and a focal point in Greek Mythology.
Your last stop is the island of Malta, cities such as the baroque Valletta and the medieval Mdina unveil the island’s ancient past.
