Begin your holiday flying to Barcelona, where you’ll board your cruise ship, MSC World Europa. Your first port of call is on the French Riviera is Marseille. The cruise then continues onto Genoa(Portofino)  which is the gateway to Italy’s glamorous Riviera. Wander down its winding medieval alleyways, take in historical, Piazza Matteotti, and admire a magnificent cluster of 16th and 17th-century buildings. Genoa’s heritage as a naval power is evident in La Lanterna, a historical lighthouse built in 1543. Beyond the city, romantic towns can be found nestled along the coastline, including the gelati-coloured Portofino.

Next stop at one of Italy’s ancient jewels, Naples which boasts a vibrant historical centre set around a striking harbour bay, discover architectural landmarks, masterpiece artworks, and sumptuous food. The dormant volcano of Mount Vesuvius offers a picture-postcard backdrop. From the city, travel further afield to the archaeological site of Pompeii or take in Capri’s glamorous culture. Next Marvellous Messina, sitting pretty on Sicily’s Ionian Coast, is the ultimate Italian treat. It is noted for its natural beauty and historical sites, including cathedrals, monuments, and museums. Travel south to see stunning sea towns and villages, such as Taormina or visit the famed Mount Etna, an active volcano and a focal point in Greek Mythology.

Your last stop is the island of Malta, cities such as the baroque Valletta and the medieval Mdina unveil the island’s ancient past. Voted European Capital of Culture for 2018, Valetta is home to 16th-century buildings, enlightening museums, and a stunning waterfront promenade. Every year, the city plays host to a number of important village feasts and a colourful carnival.

Finally, you’ll make your way back to Barcelona where your cruise holidays ends.
