Monterey is famous for its aquarium, home to a captivating selection of fish, brightly coloured jelly fish, reptiles and marine mammals.
Stay in San Simeon, home to the storied Hearst Castle, which is well worth a visit or San Luis Obispo, a vibrant college town with excellent nightlife and shopping before continuing your journey to Los Angeles, the final stop on this epic Californian fly drive road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway. Arrive at San Francisco International Airport, pick up your car and proceed to your hotel.
Day 2 San Francisco
You are free to enjoy this fascinating city today. Walk through the narrow crab markets of Fisherman’s Wharf and enjoy sidewalk dining. Charming neighbourhoods greet you at every turn with their elegant architecture. See Chinatown, the Japan Centre, and the Embarcadero.
Looming in the middle of the bay is the ominous island of Alcatraz, housing the infamous prison.
Day 3 San Simeon
San Simeon, home to the storied Hearst Castle, which is well worth a visit or San Luis Obispo, a vibrant college town with excellent nightlife and shopping before continuing your journey south toward Solvang, an historic Danish style village and a great place to use as a base for touring some of the excellent vineyards in Santa Ynez Valley.
Day 4 Santa Barbara
While in Santa Barbara, it might bebe sure to take in some surf lessons, relax on the beach, explore the beautiful pier and take the trolley tour to the old Santa Barbara Mission.
Day 5 Los Angeles
Los Angeles is the final stop on this epic Californian road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway.
