This cruise and safari holiday to South Africa, is truly a bucket list trip as it combines a 5 night safari and winelands tour with a 13 night cruise from Cape Town around the stunning South African coast.

Your safari and cruise holiday begins in Johannesburg, a city you’ll have the chance to explore before transferring to Kapama Private Game Reserve located between the Blyde River Valley and Kruger National Park and home to over 40 species, including the Big Five: elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos. Days are spent on safari and evenings spent with sundowner cocktails overlooking the sunset over the Drakensberg Mountains. You’ll also visit Stellenbosch, the heart of South African wine country where you can visit some of the region’s most famous wineries.

Then its time to head to Cape Town where you will board Azamara Pursuit for your sensational South African cruise. On this cruise holiday you’ll stop at Port Elizabeth where you can spend the day on Hobie Beach or visit Addo Elephant National Park—home to the densest population of elephants in the world. Next up is East London, a charming town of 19th century architecture with a vibrant cultural scene and some of the best beaches to soak up the golden African sun on. Then its onto Maputo in Mozambique, a bustling city where colonial era architecture mixes with modern cultures. From there you’ll pay a late night stay to Richards Bay for a safari adventure in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, home to the largest rhino population in the world along with the famous Big Five. There’s time for one last stop in Durban to take a once-in-a-lifetime tour of traditional Zulu homesteads before sailing back to Cape Town.

  • Upon arrival at Johannesburg Airport, you’ll transfer to Sandton and check into your hotel. Spend the remainder of your day relaxing at the hotel, enjoying a massage, or having a swim. From this luxurious base, you’ll be around the corner from many designer fashion stores and excellent restaurants at the large Sandton City Shopping Centre. Rooms available from 2:00pm. Dinner is on your own this evening.

  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before your transfer to Johannesburg airport for your flight to Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit where, upon arrival you’ll transfer to Kapama Private Game Reserve, located between the Blyde River Valley and Kruger National Park. Kapama is home to over 40 different species, including the Big Five: elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos. After checking in at River Lodge, enjoy high tea before heading out with your ranger for an afternoon game-drive. En route, stop for sundowner cocktails and watch the sun set over the distant peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains. As darkness falls, look out for the bush’s nocturnal animals on the night drive back to the lodge, where dinner will be served this evening.

  • Wake up to fantastic daybreak views of the African bush before embarking on an early morning game drive in an open 4x4 vehicle. Return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast and then spend the rest of the morning and afternoon at leisure, with a variety of options to entertain you. Later, embark on another game drive and, as the sun sets, look out to see the nocturnal animals that come out to hunt. Enjoy sundowners in the bush before returning to the lodge for a delicious dinner.

  • This morning, enjoy a last, early-morning game drive before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Afterwards, check out and transfer to Hoedspruit Airport for your scheduled flight to Johannesburg where you’ll check into your flight for Cape Town. Upon arrival in Cape Town you’ll transfer to the winelands via a scenic drive through the picturesque town of Stellenbosch to your luxurious accommodations.

  • After a leisurely breakfast, get ready to depart for a day that’ll be sure to tantalize your taste buds. The Western Cape is blessed with the perfect climate for making world-class wines. And, to match the wine, it’s also home to top-quality restaurants where outstanding food is usually served with an incredible view. Today is all about exploring these taste sensations, at the Vergelegen Estate, Morgenster Estate, and Anura Estate, punctuated with lunch at Tokara Restaurant where Chef Etienne Bonthuys produces innovative gourmet meals accompanied by the wonderful wines from the adjoining winery. Tonight, dinner will be enjoyed at your hotel.

  • After a leisurely breakfast, check out and depart for Stellenbosch to explore the beautiful space filled with whitewashed homesteads, avenues of oaks, and rolling green hills. Start your walking exploration of the old town and discover Stellenbosch's colorful history while sampling local flavors through locally-produced artisanal food and drinks. Enjoy indigenous tea, traditional snacks—like biltong and droëwors—and fresh bread sticks from an artisan bakery. Your walking tour ends with lunch. After this interesting ‘foodies walking’ tour, transfer to Cape Town Harbour and embark your ship.
