Best Times To Travel

December – February

If you’re celebrating festivities or want to see the Northern Lights, this is the best time to visit. Temperatures range from -10°C to 0°C, so pack warm layers. Quebec City’s Winter Carnival and Ottawa’s Ice Sculpture Festival are great for day trips.

March – May

From March to May, the temperatures range from -5°C to 15°C. As the weather warms, outdoor activities like hiking become more popular. Don’t miss the Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa and the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival.

June – August

Warm temperatures between 18°C and 28°C make this prime time for national park visits, coastal drives, and festivals like the Calgary Stampede. Book whale watching and popular hotels early, as it’s peak season.

September – November

Temperatures begin to cool, from 15°C in September to -5°C in November. Early autumn is ideal for hiking and enjoying the beautiful autumnal foliage. Notable events include the Toronto International Film Festival and the Vancouver International Film Festival.

Toronto - Late spring, early summer and autumn are the most pleasant walking months in the city—and this is a walkable city. September, one of the loveliest months of the year, is also packed with the Toronto International Film Festival fêtes and a spate of other weekend festivals. If you plan travelling during these times I would suggest you book your accommodation early otherwise you may have difficulty finding a place to stay.
