Orlando holidays are not just all Theme Parks
Florida is known as the Sunshine State with good reason, and Orlando is no exception in this regard, with summer temperatures exceeding 33 degrees Celsius during the month of July. With that in mind, you’ll no doubt want to find an enjoyable way to cool off – and there’s only so much ice cream you can eat and soda you can drink! Orlando, Florida is home to some of the most exciting water parks in the world. The biggest news for water parks is Universal’s Volcano Bay water theme park. With a mix of relaxation and thrills this has something for everyone with a lazy river, cabanas to rent or 19 unique attractions to choose from. Finally, be sure to check out Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and its famous Lazy River and world famous man-made tides. You can even go snorkelling with all sorts of exotic fish, including sharks!
Florida’s Everglades stretch through Orlando, providing ample opportunity to see some of America’s most majestic wildlife. Among the most famous residents of this unspoiled habitat are the American alligator and its close (but much rarer) cousin, the American crocodile. If you’re lucky, you might even see a bald eagle – they frequently nest in the Everglades. You can see these animals while taking a relaxing boat tour or a more high octane air-boat trip.
Another great way to see some amazing animals in Orlando is visiting the area’s top wildlife park, Gatorland Zoo, where you can marvel at the world famous ‘gator Jumparoo show or even partake in some amateur ‘gator wresslin’ yourself! As well as the native American alligators, Gatorland Zoo is home to the Jungle Crocs exhibition, which showcases spectacular reptiles from around the world.
When you need a break from all of the hustle and bustle of exploring Orlando’s many great theme parks and attractions, you can treat yourself to some Grade-A retail therapy in the area’s many strip malls, factory outlet stores and mini-malls.
When it comes to eating things, Disney’s International Drive is the place to be. Whether you need something cheap and cheerful or are in the mood for some fine dining, there is something to suit every taste imaginable. Stock up at an affordable all you can eat breakfast buffet at Sizzler or Ponderosa to fuel your day and have yourself a great meal at one of America’s renowned restaurant chains like Bennigan’s, TGI Friday’s or one of the area’s Triple-A steakhouses.
