Places to Visit

A Standout Destination in the Heart Of Miami

South Beach offers a combination of beautiful coastline and vibrant surroundings. Known for its distinctive Art Deco architecture and scenic oceanfront, it’s an ideal spot for both relaxing and exploring. Whether you’re taking a stroll along the beach, enjoying local restaurants, or visiting the historic Art Deco district, South Beach is the perfect Miami beach break.

Soft Sands and Sun

Clearwater Beach is made for laidback vacations and long days in the sun. With soft white sand and calm, clear water, it’s a hit with families, couples, and anyone looking to unwind. You’ll find plenty to do, from jet skiing and dolphin-watching tours. And when evening comes, the action shifts to Pier 60, where street performers, local vendors, and nightly sunset celebrations make it the perfect place to end the day. Just a 25 minute drive from Clearwater, you’ll find St Pete’s. Accessible by a trolley service that operates between the two destinations. St Pete’s boasts a stunning beach, and just a 25–30 minute drive away in the vibrant downtown area, you’ll find the fabulous new pier lined with waterfront bars and restaurants. While you’re there, don’t miss the Salvador Dali Museum and the Chihuly Glass Museum, both located nearby.

Beach Days with More to Explore

Fort Lauderdale Beach provides an easy going coastal escape with plenty to enjoy nearby. The beach itself is spacious and well kept, ideal for everything from a quiet morning walk to an afternoon swim. Just steps away, you’ll find restaurants, shops, and galleries along Las Olas Boulevard. For something a little different, take a scenic boat or jump onboard the water taxis that operate along the inland coastal waterway to see the destination from a different perspective.

Florida’s Most Famous Beach

Daytona Beach is one of Florida’s best-known beaches, and once you’re here, it’s easy to see why. The beach is wide and welcoming, perfect for anything from sunbathing to beach volleyball. There are splash parks, jungle gyms, and cycling trails right by the sand, plus water activities like surfing, paddleboarding, and parasailing. The boardwalk and pier bring even more to the table, with places to eat, shop, and just enjoy the view, plus you’re nearby to famous attractions such as the International Speedway and the Motorsports Hall of Fame.

Best Times To Travel

Florida’s beaches are a refreshing escape during these cooler months, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 18°C to 24°C. It’s a great time for sightseeing, outdoor dining, and beach walks without the summer heat. Crowds are generally smaller, making this a more relaxed time to visit, however, things are still lively, particularly with Spring Break in the month of March.

This is one of the best times to visit Florida’s coast. Temperatures climb steadily into the mid-to-high 20s°C, and the sea becomes warm enough for comfortable swimming and water sports. Spring events are in full swing, and you’ll enjoy longer days, sunny skies, and fewer afternoon showers than later in the summer.

Expect classic Florida summer weather during these months, with daytime highs often reaching 30–33°C. The beaches are busy and full of life, perfect for families and school holiday getaways. Just be aware that this is also the rainy season, with brief but intense showers, especially in the afternoons.

Autumn and early winter bring milder temperatures ranging from 20°C to 27°C, making it a comfortable time for beach days, shopping, and dining outdoors. The humidity drops off, and festive events start popping up, especially in December. It’s a great time to enjoy Florida’s coast without the peak season rush.

Florida Beaches FAQs

Do I need to rent a car to explore the area?

While some beach towns are walkable, having a rental car gives you more freedom to explore nearby attractions and hidden gems at your own pace.

How many days should I plan for a beach holiday in Florida?

A 7-day trip allows enough time to enjoy the beach, visit local attractions, and unwind without rushing. Longer stays give you the chance to explore multiple beach destinations. Adding a beach destination on the tail end of an Orlando holiday even if its as little as 3 nights enables you to unwind after a hectic time in the theme parks and allows you to explore at a  slower pace.

Are Florida’s beach towns family-friendly?

Absolutely. Many coastal areas like Clearwater Beach and Daytona Beach offer family-focused activities, safe swimming spots, and a laidback atmosphere that’s great for all ages.

Are there cultural or historical sites worth visiting?

Yes, Florida’s beach areas are rich in culture. South Beach is known for its Art Deco architecture, while Fort Lauderdale and Daytona have museums, galleries, and historic landmarks to discover. Wynwood Walls in Miami is also a must-visit, where artists exhibit unique art murals and galleries.

Can I combine a beach trip with a visit to theme parks?

Definitely. Beaches like Daytona and Clearwater are within a few hours’ drive of Orlando, making it easy to spend a few days at Florida’s world-famous theme parks in your itinerary, before heading to your beach holiday where you can relax, unwind and enjoy a slower pace.

Are Florida’s beaches suitable for swimming year-round?

Yes, especially on the Gulf Coast where water temperatures stay warm well into autumn. Summer offers the warmest sea conditions, while winter is better for brisk walks and sunbathing.

What outdoor activities are available besides swimming?

From paddleboarding and kayaking to cycling and nature trails, there’s no shortage of ways to stay active outdoors. Many beaches also offer rentals for water sports and gear.

Can I rent beach chairs and umbrellas?

Most public beaches have rental stations or nearby vendors offering chairs, umbrellas, and even cabanas for the day. Some hotels and resorts also include them as part of your stay.

What should I pack for a Florida beach holiday?

Lightweight clothing, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, SPF), comfortable walking shoes, and swimwear are essentials. A light rain jacket or umbrella can come in handy during summer months.

Is tipping expected at restaurants and hotels?
