Staff Review

“The Mexican destination of Cancun offers visitors everything they could want in a holiday. All-inclusive hotels and resorts, sandy beaches and clear waters, ancient Mayan sites and a feel for the authentic Mexico in downtown Cancun. There is also plenty of nautical-based entertainment on offer with the Captain Hook Pirate Ship tour being one of the most popular ways to take to the Caribbean waters. If you fancy getting a little closer to the action then why not try a spot of sailing, surfing or paragliding. And the waters surrounding local islands Isla Mujeres and Cozumel are ideal for scuba diving or snorkelling. cinating boroughs to explore and experience there is literally an endless list of things to do, try and sample. So take a stroll or the subway or a yellow cab ride and see what this magical place has to offer you.”

  • Tequila is to Mexico vacations as deep-dish pizza is to Chicago — it’s just one of those things you have to experience on its native soil. But if you don’t know your a-hole from your anejo, or you just really want to find out what you’re getting sloshed on all day at the pool, head over to the Tequila Herradura Sensory Museum for an enlightening round of “sniff and slurp.

  • To get the most bang for your buck, make sure your snorkel or dive tour includes a visit to The Silent Evolution near Isla Mujeres. Mine only included a stop at The Gardener of Hope near Punta Nizuc, and while as nifty and as uplifting an experience that may sound, it’s not quite as impressive as the 400+ statues you’ll see near Isla Mujeres.
