A fantastic 9 day 8 night trip through Alberta and British Columbia in Western Canada. Travel from Calgary to Vancouver via the Rocky Mountain towns of Banff for a 2 night stay, Lake Louise for 1 night and Jasper for another 2 nights. You also travel along one of the most scenic highways in North America – the Icefields Parkway and visit the Columbia Icefields and an ice explorer ride on to the Athabasca Glacier.
You then take to the rails and cross British Columbia’s Caribou Region to Quesnel before heading to Whistler where the natural beauty and mountain lifestyle offers an escape like nowhere else. You end your Western Canada trip in the beautiful city of Vancouver. And don’t forget you have the opportunity to experience the world famous Rocky Mountaineer on two separate trips. Sightseeing highlights include a wildlife tour in Jasper, Peyto Lake and the Athabasca Falls.

  • Day 1 Arrive Calgary

    Upon arrival in Calgary you transfer by coach to Banff where the rest of the day is at leisure.
    Overnight in Banff at Irwin’s Mountain Lodge.

  • Day 2 Morning sightseeing tour of Banff with Gondola

    This morning, tour the town of Banff and its environs. Among the highlights are visits to the Hoodoos (shaped by centuries of wind) & Bow Valley Viewpoint, Surprise Corner, Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka and Bankhead: an abandoned mining town and the relic of Banff’s industrial past. At the end of the tour you will be taken to the Banff Gondola for a breathtaking ascent to the pinnacle of Sulphur Mountain for an awe-inspiring 360-degree panorama of sheer mountain majesty. Return to downtown Banff at your leisure. (Transfer not included).

  • Day 3 Banff to Lake Louise

    Depart Banff early afternoon for a short drive via the scenic Bow Valley to Lake Louise.

  • Day 4 Lake Louise to Jasper

    Travel by coach today via one of the most scenic highways in North America - the Icefields Parkway. Visit the Columbia Icefield that covers an area of nearly 125 square miles and reaches a depth of 1050 foot. Time allows for an Ice Explorer ride on the Athabasca Glacier, then a stop at the award-winning Glacier Skywalk experiencing a glass-floored observation platform 918 foot over spectacular glacier-formed valleys and rushing waterfalls. Photo stops along the Parkway will be made at Bow & Peyto Lakes, the Crowfoot Glacier and the Athabasca Falls. This highway is renowned for sightings of bears, elk, moose & mountain sheep, so keep your camera handy. Please note: mountain lakes in this region will be frozen through to mid-June. Picnic lunch included today.

  • Day 5 Jasper - Evening wildlife tour

    Today is free to explore Jasper before departing this evening to experience the environs of Jasper, and for some amazing close-up photo opportunities of wildlife.

  • Day 6 Jasper to Quesnel

    Today, embark on a memorable rail journey across British Columbia’s Caribou Region to the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Pass the cloud-veiled peak of Mount Robson and watch the horizons widen as the train descends from the Rockies onto the rugged interior plateau. The northern arm of the Fraser River leads to Quesnel. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your overnight accommodation. Breakfast and lunch is included today.

  • Day 7 Quesnel to Whistler

    Re-board the Rocky Mountaineer train bound for Whistler. Today’s rail journey takes you along the historic Caribou Goldrush Trail. Highlights along the way include towering views of the Fraser Canyon, Anderson & Seton Lakes. Upon arrival into Whistler you will be transferred to your overnight accommodation. Breakfast & lunch is included today.

  • Day 8 Whistler to Vancouver

    This morning is at leisure to explore Whistler, before departing on the Rocky Mountaineer train service through the scenic Howe Sound to Vancouver. Highlights along the way include Cheakamus Canyon and the Stawamus Chief Rock where climbers from all over the globe migrate to climb the granite cliffs. A light snack is served onboard the train.
