New Orleans & Memphis

4 NIGHTS New Orleans • 3 NIGHTS Memphis

This twin centre holiday to the American South starts in New Orleans, a city synonymous with jazz, the blues and Creole cuisine. Your second destination Memphis, on the banks of the Mississippi River, is famous for rock ‘n roll and incredible southern food.
New Orleans is famous for its jazz, the extravagant parades, and the ‘Big Easy’ lifestyle. The French Quarter is filled with the strains of jazz and blues echoing through the streets. Bourbon Street, known for the annual Mardi Gras, comes to life at night as it plays host to a giant street party throbbing with music, people and excellent restaurants. New Orleans has plenty of serious sightseeing options. Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve offers a variety of activities, including bayou cruises from the Acadian Cultural Centre and paddlewheel boat trips from New Orleans to the historic Chalmette Battlefield sites.
No trip to Memphis is complete without a visit to Graceland, it attracts fans of the King from all over the world and is the second most visited house in the USA, after the White House. Take a stroll down Beale Street at night, you are sure to find great entertainment into the early hours. Visit the National Civil Rights Museum housed in the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Follow a self-guided audio tour through 500 years of American Civil Rights history, recommended as one of the top things to do in Memphis.

Staff Tips

New Orleans-Many a visitor’s love affair with New Orleans begins after a bite of these crusty hero sandwiches made from fresh French bread slathered with mayonnaise and crammed with fried Gulf oysters or shrimp.

Memphis -The King's domain is busiest in January and August, the months of Elvis's birthday and the anniversary of his death. Those eager to join hundreds of Elvis look-alikes should book accommodations up to a year in advance.
