San Diego is one of the USA’s most popular holiday destinations thanks to its friendly people, beautiful beaches and world-famous sunsets. Are you planning a holiday to San Diego? Check out this blog where our travel expert Diane lists her top things to do in San Diego.

Catch a San Diego sunset

Some have said San Diego have the most beautiful sunsets in the world, and from witnessing them first hand, I can tell you that this is most definitely true! For a view like no other, take a trip to Coronado and watch the sun go down from one of the many harbour eateries on this island. From your table you can snap away to your heart’s content as the sky is filled with a stunning mix of colours.

Visit Seaport Villagetop things to do in san diego

Opened in 1980, Seaport Village is a quaint part of San Diego featuring gift shops, restaurants and cafés. If you’re a breakfast person then head to Busters along the harbour.

Their menu has a host of mouth-watering breakfast options – all at reasonable prices too.

For those of you looking to kick back in the evening with something refreshing in hand, try Margaritas Kitchen & Cantina for some of the best Margaritas in town.

Take a ride in a Pedicab

No trip to San Diego would be complete without a ride in a Pedicab. These eco-friendly modes of transport can be used in two ways – as your taxi or as your tour guide. On some Pedicab’s, flashing lights and feel good music will accompany you during your trip. The perfect start to a night on the tiles!

This is definitely one for all you party animals out there. Be prepared for a wild night if you are heading to the Gaslamp Quarter!

Famous for its bars, nightclubs and live entertainment venue, you can expect a late night in this part of town.

Start your night in style by making a reservation at one of the high-profile restaurants and have your meal prepared by a celebrity chef.

Hop aboard a Naval Aircraft Carriertop things to do in san diego

One of San Diego’s most famous inhabitants, the USS Midway Museum is located in San Diego harbour.

Visit this mammoth museum from 10am to 5pm daily when you can take part in a self-guided tour.

You will be bowled over by the sheer size of this carrier, and by the cargo that’s on board.

When you leave, be sure to take the short walk to the Unconditional Surrender statue, otherwise known as the ‘kissing statue’.

Favourite Destination: San Diego

My favourite things to do would be to take a stroll around Seaport Village and shop for local crafts in the shops, with excellent waterfront dining. A short walk from Village is the amazing USS Midway which is the longest serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th Century! The beaches are gorgeous & it’s so relaxing to sit back at one of the beach bars & watch the Surfers doing what they do best. Shopping at the outlets which is a stone’s throw away from the Mexican Border is a must! At night San Diego comes alive, the Gaslamp area has an abundance of bars & nightclubs to keep you entertained until the early hours. But my favourite spot is the Old Town, where you will find Mexican Restaurants with live Mariachi Bands!
