What’s it like onboard the largest cruise ship in the world?

As the world’s largest cruise liner by volume, Royal Caribbean International’s ‘Symphony of the Seas’ stretches 1,188 feet long and is filled with 22 restaurants, 24 pools and 2,759 cabins. With 18 decks, you will never guess how many people are on the ship with you – the space is endless! In this blog, our cruise product manager Astrid shares what it’s like aboard the largest cruise ship in the world.

The Neighbourhoods

This gigantic ship is divided into seven neighbourhoods. Each neighbourhood has its own character, so there is something to suit every personality. Neighbourhoods such as the adults-only Solarium Lounge or leafy Central Park aim to provide a refuge, whereas the dedicated Splashaway Bay water park is packed with families.

Activities

Symphony of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s fourth Oasis Class ship, is packed with things to see and do. The ship includes a robotic bartender, a 10-story-high waterslide, an ice-skating rink and a rock-climbing wall to provide an eclectic mix of entertainment. You can even zip line over Central Park or boogie board on the Flow Rider. If that is not enough, play a game of mini golf, basketball, volleyball or try an aqua aerobics class.

Live entertainment

Do not miss the live entertainment.  See shows from Hiro at the Aqua Theatre to Hairspray. Feel blown right out of the water by the ice skaters for the ’1977’ show – it will make you feel like you are rink side at the Olympics!  Their abilities are incredible and the costumes are spectacular.

Dining

With 22 eateries, Symphony of the Seas offers a variety of places to eat. As for speciality restaurants, options range from modern Italian cuisine at Jamie’s Italian by Jamie Oliver to a popular sushi and hibachi spot at IZUMI. You can also look forward to a whimsical menu of molecular gastronomy at Windjammer as well as one of the best-reviewed steakhouses at sea Chops Grille. The food will impress wherever you choose to eat. Vegetarian and people with gluten intolerance are also catered to onboard this amazing ship.

Ultimate Family Suite

When it comes to accommodations, the most over-the-top is the ’Ultimate Family Suite’.

Decked out in bold colours, these two-level suites include a host of unusual amenities. There is a room slide, private cinema, ping pong table and floor-to-ceiling LEGO wall!

Meanwhile, the adults in the eight-person duplex will gravitate toward the private balcony and whirlpool.

If some guests would like an extra hand, a butler will look after the entire family, while an ‘Instagrammer-in-Chief’ is on hand to ensure guests snap shareable pictures.

Visit amazing destinations along the way

Miami, Florida, ‘The Magic City’ boasts glamorous South Beach, with colourful art deco buildings, white sand, surfside hotels and trendsetting nightclubs and will be the homeport to Symphony of the Seas. There are some incredible three, four, seven-night sailings around the Eastern and Western Caribbean available from November 2018 and also all year round in 2019.

Visit Bora Bora or perhaps a ’Perfect day at CocoCay’ – a private island owned by Royal Caribbean that’s home to the tallest waterslide in North America, hot air balloon rides and the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean.

Leave footprints in the sand and cool off in crystal-clear waters, as calypso rhythms play softly in the distance. Who can resist the sun-soaked Caribbean? We can’t either!
