Seattle is the metropolitan hub of Washington State , famous for its coffee, the space needle and home to Microsoft. Seattle is a vibrant multicultural city offering tourists everything from world-class museums to unique dining and shopping areas. There are many fine beaches and small resorts on Washington 's Pacific coast. Just across Puget Sound a short ferry ride away from Seattle , you get the Kitsap Peninsula , a relatively rural area and a popular resort destination with locals.

East of the Pacific coast is a mountainous area with landmarks such as Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier and the Snoqualmie Pass providing hiking, biking and camping, while skiing and other winter sports abound in the Cascade Mountains. Further east, the Columbia River Basin presents Washington 's magnificent scenery, such as the Grand Coulee Dam, which is the largest concrete dam in North America . Spokane is the largest city in eastern Washington . From its mountains to its valleys, Washington is a beautiful state.
