  NEVADA

Introduction

Situated east of California , Nevada is split up into four territories. The Cowboy Country , the Pony Express Territory, the Pioneer Territory and the Reno-Tahoe Territory each of which demonstrates a different aspect of Nevada's rich history and terrain. Nevada is famous for its casino-resorts which become more imaginative and lavish every year. Visitors can spend the night in a penthouse suite overlooking breathtaking Lake Tahoe , or a rustic bed and breakfast in a ghost town. Las Vegas , Nevada 's largest city is one of the major gambling and entertainment centers of the world. Luxury hotels, casinos and show venues line The Strip , a section of Las Vegas Boulevard South ; a lower-priced, smaller version is found at the Downtown Casino Center , which also features the Fremont Street Experience , a four-block canopied street mall with nightly light shows. Outdoor sports, top restaurants and nightclubs are also on offer. Las Vegas is probably the easiest place in the world in which to get married. Around 230 marriage licenses are issued per day.
Reno , another entertainment and casino city, is known for its quiet residential areas, and surrounding historic and natural attractions.

But Nevada has a lot more to offer than just blackjack tables and nickel slot machines. The state spreads across more than 110,000 sq miles and there's lots of rugged, beautiful terrain to explore, from the mountains of Great Basin National Park to near empty highways such as hwy 50 and seemingly endless numbers of sweeping, breathtaking desert valleys in between. You can also immerse yourself in western history in towns like Virginia City and Elko.
