Missouri, in the heart of the USA, is a blend
of frontier west, the gracious south, the sophisticated
east and the industrial north. It is a state rich
in history and culture accentuated by the old
pioneer route through the Missouri Valley. Missouri’s
southeast region seems to have been created especially
for those adventurers, whose idea of life at its
best is exploring, paddling, trekking, climbing
and splashing through the natural wonders of the
world around them. Bubbling springs, sparkling
rivers and forested hills accentuate Missouri's
Southeast Region. In Charleston, you can tour
beautiful Victorian homes as well as the beautiful
gardens surrounding them. Each April, Charleston
hosts its annual Dogwood-Azalea Festival and the
entire town glows with the beauty cast by millions
of colorful dogwood and azalea blossoms.
St. Louis is a cosmopolitan city filled with fashionable
restaurants and smoky jazz clubs. Visit historic
communities, such as Laclede's Landing and The
Hill, where fine restaurants, art galleries, and
craft shops abound. Kansas City features more
than 40 museums and numerous galleries and is
well known for its jazz festivals and summer music
events. Branson, the capital of live music and
entertainment, boasts more than 30 theatres and
is minutes away from the peaceful wooded hills
of the Ozarks. The thriving city life found in
Kansas City and St. Louis, as well as the quiet
beauty of limestone bluffs and winding rivers
make Missouri a great place to explore even today.
