Many downtown Miami eateries cater to nine-to-fivers and close on Sunday. Florida bans smoking in all establishments that serve food. Bars that don't serve food are exempt.
Tap Tap, Miami Beach – lively Creole delight serves wonderful fruit and vegetable salads, plus Caribbean specialties like pumpkin soup and stewed goat. The incredible rum drinks are made with Barbancourt from Haiti .
11 th St Diner, Miami Beach – A classic 24-hour diner with good omelettes and sandwiches.
Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant, Miami Beach – established in 1913 this is surely the most famous restaurant in town. Open during stone crab season, the lines are almost always long. There's better seafood in town, but the scene is the thing here.
Versailles , Downtown Miami – the name might sound French but the food is classic Cuban. The dining room is loud and almost always crowded which is part of the charm.
Shorty's BBQ, Downtown Miami – This local institution has been serving up baby back ribs, corn on the cob and fall-off-the-bone chicken for nearly 50 years.
Taqueria El Mexicano, Downtown Miami – Hit this friendly place in little Havana for a Mexican breakfast of champions – tortilla chips simmered in green sauce topped with scrambled eggs and lots of cheese, rice and beans.
Hy Vong, Downtown Miami – Spicy Vietnamese in the heart of little Havana . Start with the liquid salad marinate in lime juice

Cuban Cafeterias & Cuban Coffee - Cuban coffee is a longstanding tradition in Miami . You'll find it served from the takeout windows of hundreds of cafeterías or luncherías around town, especially in Downtown and the beaches.
The best café Cubano has a rich layer of foam on top formed when the hot espresso shoots from the machine into the sugar below. The result is the caramelly, sweet, potent concoction that's a favorite of locals of all nationalities.
David's Café II, Miami Beach – The breakfasts are bountiful and the lunches even more so at this long standing Cuban favorite.
Latin Cuisine - The best place for Latin cuisine in Miami is in Little Havana, where many of the restaurants list menu items in English for the benefit of Norte Americano diners. These restaurants offer a range of Latin dishes including: Arroz con pollo -Roast chicken served with saffron-seasoned yellow rice and diced vegetables. Ceviche - Raw fish seasoned with spice and vegetables and marinated in vinegar and citrus to "cook" it. Paella - A Spanish dish of chicken, sausage, seafood, and pork mixed with saffron rice and peas. Palomilla - Thinly sliced beef, similar to American minute steak, usually served with onions, parsley, and a mountain of French fries, and T apas but to name a few!
Night Life While nightlife gets the bulk of the tourist attention, Miami and Miami Beach offer great theater, sports and live music. If you want to boogie until the wee hours, then head for South Beach . South Beach is certainly one of the most diverse areas, such as the Design District, South Miami , and even Little Havana, are increasingly providing fun alternatives. Alternatively, if you're looking for a less frenetic good time, Miami 's bar scene offers something for everyone, from haute hotel bars to sleek watering holes.
Mac's Club Deuce Bar, Miami Beach – Established in 1926, it's the oldest bar in Miami Beach . The clientele is wonderfully eclectic.
Tobacco Road, Miami Ave – A venerable local hangout with jazz, blues and classic rock bands, this place has been packing'em in since 1912. There's a throwback roadhouse feel to the place and it's often the scene of impromptu jams by well-known rockers when they're in town.
Crobar, South Beach – the hottest scene on South Beach is in the renovated art deco Cameo Theatre.
Club Space, Downtown Miami – Heads to this enormous ware-house in downtown Miami where dancers have a chance to spread out and groove to the DJ sounds. Liquor is served until late.
Nikki Beach Club – It's spring break year-round at this beach-blanket-bimbo themed party.
Satchmo Blues Bar & Grill – a coral Gables institution featuring local and national acts, plus jazz and rock ‘n' roll.
