Florida is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with visitors heading to ‘The Sunshine State' in search of fun, sun and thrills. Florida, of course, is known for many things: the Everglades; the sun, sand, and surf that make up Florida's 1500 kilometers of beaches; the Florida Keys; South Beach and, of course Disney World. But there is much more to Florida , winding waterways, freshwater lakes, hills, forests, exciting cities and the state's rich history that is reflected in museums, monuments, forts and homes throughout the state.
Central Florida is dominated by Orlando and its well known theme parks, including Disney World, EPCOT Center , MGM Studios, Universal Studios, Sea World, and more tourist attractions than you can possibly imagine in one area. The charming small citrus towns south of Orlando or the lake towns to the north are also worth a visit. To the west lie's Florida 's Gulf Coast , with its beautiful cities and beach towns on the Gulf of Mexico , whose calm green waters and white sandy beaches are suitable for sunning year-round.
Florida 's East Coast is home to Miami , Fort Lauderdale , Palm Beach and the Florida Keys . Miami and Miami Beach have long been a haunt of the rich and famous, and star-spotting is a popular pastime here. The city also has a well-established Cuban sector called Little Havana and i ts famous Art Deco district. Palm Beach scores equally highly in the glamour stakes, while Fort Lauderdale is a popular spot for families, offering a wide assortment of sports and recreational activities. To the south, the Florida Keys are made up of a string of Islands including Key Largo and Key West . A tropical climate, beautiful beaches and clear blue waters attract a steady flow of visitors to the Keys all year round. To the north of Florida lies Tallahassee , the state's capitol since 1823. Today, it is often described as ‘The Other Florida' with its rolling hills, oak forests, cool climate and distinctly Southern feel.
