Extending along much of America's Pacific Coastline,
California 'the Golden State' is one of the country's
most beautiful visitor destinations. More than
anything, California is recognized for its diverse
landscape and great attractions. The legend of
California, the image portrayed by Hollywood,
really does exist. Days are warm and sunny and
the mansions of Beverley Hills are the height
of luxury, however beyond the glitter and glamour
is an incredibly diverse state. The world-renowned
cities of the West Coast are strung along miles
of magnificent coastline with cliffs, soaring
redwood forests and beaches. The high snow-capped
Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and the magnificent
glacier-carved valley of Yosemite National Park
contrast with the shimmering heat of spectacular
desert landscapes and the neat rows of leafy vineyards
in the Napa Valley, one of the world's best-known
wine growing regions.
The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the world's
most popular destinations. San Francisco is a
cosmopolitan city, whose cable cars and Golden
Gate Bridge are instantly recognisable. The Bay
Area offers world-class museums, restaurants,
wineries, shopping and historic sites. Outdoor
enthusiasts will love the Golden Gate National
Recreation Area and the coastal resort area of
Santa Cruz. While the balmy climate and beautiful
beaches of San Diego County make it a popular
destination. The city's Spanish heritage is reflected
in numerous buildings and museums. Attractions
include the famous San Diego Wild Animal Park,
San Diego Zoo and Sea World.
Undoubtedly the city with the most razzle-dazzle
is Los Angeles, it lives up to its reputation
as 'the entertainment capital of the world' presenting
the attractions of Hollywood, Universal Studios
and Disneyland, as well as first-class shopping,
fine restaurants and a lively nightlife. While
the California Deserts feature Palm Springs, Death
Valley and the Mojave Desert.
