Get the best panoramic views of Montreal from 575 feet (175 meters) above and tour the site of the 1976 Olympic Games. Take a unique funicular ride up the side of the tower to reach the observatory and enjoy sweeping views over the city.

The Montreal Tower Observatory is located in the highest inclined tower in the world, with an elevation of 575 feet (175 meters) and 45-degree angle. The Tower of Pisa, by comparison, has a 5-degree angle. You reach the Observatory by a 2-level glass funicular that can accommodate 76 passengers at a time. The trip to the top takes approximately 2 minutes.

The view of Montreal is as unique as it is exceptional. On a clear day, you can see up to 50 miles (80 km) all around, including the Laurentian Mountains. It is not surprising that the Montreal Tower is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers, next to, among others, the CN Tower in Toronto, the Empire State Building in New York and the Menara Tower in Kuala Lumpur.

The guided tours are 30 minutes long and begin with a brief history of the 1976 Olympic Games. Afterwards, experienced guides take you to the Sports Centre, where you can admire the impressive Olympic pools and the Olympic Stadium. And at the end of this visit, you can understand why the Stadium is considered one of the wonders of modern architecture!

You definitely have to go to the observatory but the guided tour is not that interesting. You can buy tickets for the observatory tower and wonder around the Olympic pool. If you buy the guided tour you also gain access to see the Olympic park that is a very big empty space that is not very interesting. Outside the tower is the biodome, it’s not included in the tour but you can buy tickets and see animals and vegetation of 3 different climates.

The tower is a fantastic construction and the view you have from the top are unbelievable for the city. This is one of the best tour to do in Montreal.

We were the only ones on the tour! Viewed the pools and the main stadium which is now an all purpose hall. Unfortunately there was low cloud so we could not see anything from the top of the tower. There is no cafe up there either just a souvenir shop.
